"Downtown Dayz, what's that," many Abilenian's questioned?

Downtown Dayz is an event held downtown each month which kicked off this past July.

"We created it to just kinda draw attention to Downtown businesses, restaurants, and venues," Carol Dromgoole, Downtown Dayz Coordinator said.

Various types of entertainment and activities can be found along Abilene's downtown streets.

"Special sales and discounts are available at different places on Downtown Dayz on that particular Saturday that might not be available on other Saturdays," Carol Dromgoole said.

Every first Saturday of the month downtown shops and restaurants get excited for fellow Abilenians to take part in the event.

While it's been less than a year that the Downtown Association has been sponsoring Downtown Dayz; those behind it are hoping to make it a bigger deal in the future.

"We hope that it becomes king-of more-top-of-mind and that people get used to this event, but also we hope it encourages people to come to downtown all the time and not just once a month," Carol Dromgoole added.

The next Downtown Dayz event is scheduled for February 14th.With the event being held on Valentine's Day, downtown shops and restaurants are planning some special things for Abilene residents to enjoy on the holiday.
