Free Starbucks Giveaway

Updated: January 21, 2009
Starbucks wants to make Americans an offer hard to refuse.

The Seattle based company is offering free coffee to anyone willing to heed President Barack Obama's request that everyone get involved in service to their community.

The company is offering a free "tall" coffee Wednesday through Sunday this week for customers willing to fill out a community service pledge card at any Starbucks location.

Customers are asked to commit five hours of their time during this year for community service and volunteer programs.

In a statement, Vivek Varma, senior vice president of global affairs for Starbucks suggests five hours is "just 25 minutes a month for a year." Varma says a day reading to children at a hospital or in a park planting trees or a little time creating care packages at a food bank will easily fulfill the pledge.
