"Guilty" Plea in Embezzlement Case

Sheri Mitchell, one of two women accused of stealing almost $1 million from Hendrick Medical Center is expected to plead guilty in court Thursday.Mitchell and Laura Minor appeared in the Abilene Federal Court few weeks ago to make their initial appearances. Later, Minor pleaded not guilty in a Lubbock Federal Court.
Both women are accused of embezzling money from Hendrick over a five-year period. According to prosecutors, Mitchell, a Tennessee business owner, would send invoices to Hendrick for unprovided services. Minor, a Hendrick employee, would then bill Hendrick. They are now facing a 23-count indictment, big charges, and a long road ahead.
