"I don't think it has much of a chance, at all of bringing revenue into the city, Bob Marcho," a Maxwell golf shared.

He's talking about purchasing Diamondback Golf Club and if the city were to make it the Municipal golf course.

"We will meet as many times as it takes to get the information and be able to make a decision," Frank Johnson, chair of the Citizens Golf Committee said.

After City Council appointed the Citizens Golf Committee, they have been getting down to business.

"We still haven't even decided if we want to be in the golf business in Abilene. We are in the golf business, I think that the consensus is that probably we do need to be," Frank Johnson added.

With Maxwell being Abilene's Municipal golf course, the committee took a look at numbers from 2007. They found that instead of making a potential profit for the city, the city ended up paying $72,000 over the year just to maintain Maxwell.

"That's a $92,000 subsidy that we have right now, currently," Frank Johnson said.

Despite any traps that the Citizens Golf Committee may find along the way, they will propose reccomendations to the city by next month. Ultimately, the decision is up to City Council to decide.
