On Monday, Wylie High School will be among 26 schools in the state recognized for receiving the 2008 national Blue Ribbon honor for No Child Left Behind achievements.  It's the highest honor for a school.

The state nominated the schools, and the U.S. Department of Education selected all 26 to be Blue Ribbon recipients.  They were honored at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. in November and received a plaque and a flag.

The schools will be recognized next week at the Texas Association of School Administrators Midwestern Conference.

Also recognized at the conference will be Brownwood High School, among the 26 schools recognized for 2009.

According to the Texas Education Agency, schools that qualify have at least 40 percent of students from a disadvantaged background and improve standardized test  performance to a high level.  Schools must also score in the top 10 percent of the state on state tests.

Brownwood High School was nominated for its "dramatic gains in test results."
