By: Victor Sotelo
Updated: January 22, 2009
Jesse Rayburn Arms was sentenced to 8 years in prison today for aggravated robbery.

In January of 2008,  Arms snatched a purse from a 65-year-old woman in the HEB parking parking lot.

The charge was upgraded to aggravated robbery because of the victims age.

In the court room today Arms asked Judge Wheeler for leniency.

Arms told the Court he had been in trouble with the law since he was 12 years old, and would like the opportunity to turn his life around.

Judge Wheeler stated his decision reflected Arms' request for leniency.

Jesse Arms was facing up to 99 years in prison.
