Recent studies show more than 1/3 of all U.S. adults are turning to natural and alternative medicine to treat their health needs.  The study includes treatments like acupuncture, herbal remedies and natural therapies.  Such treatments are becoming mainstream in American culture and even here in Abilene.

Bowtech Practitioner Neil Hall says with conventional methods, "They're not getting the help they're looking for, or it costs so much, they can't afford the insurance...and the side effects they get with the medication they're taking cause them to take more medication."

Not only are patients finding stress relief through such therapies, but natural health is easy on the checkbook.

"The pharmaceuticals are not making money off of herbs and supplements and things like that, so that's why they're not interested in carrying them," said Hall.

Some of the most popular natural health treatments in Abilene are iridology and touch therapy.  The Health House and Bowtech for Health are two of the popular natural health operations in Abilene.
