TXU Lowers Electric Rates

 Texas-based TXU Energy is lowering prices in hopes of attracting new customers. The company plans to lower prices as much as 15-percent for potential customers shopping for a new electric service plan. A company official says a new customer could save over $300 a year depending on location and the service plan chosen.

In the press release from the company released on Monday it was stated the new prices would take affect on February 1.  “These are challenging economic times,” said Dave Hennekes, vice president, residential markets, TXU Energy. “Our new lower prices can help someone shopping for a new plan save real money.”

This past November,  the company lowered prices as much as 10 percent for more than 300,000 existing customers on other month-to-month residential plans. TXU Energy is the only competitive retail electric provider in Texas to provide its low-income customers a year-round company funded discount. More than 123,000 eligible customers are receiving our discount of approximately 10 percent.
