It turns out that hospitals that use electronic medical records have better patient outcomes than those that still use paper charts and handwritten prescriptions.
Researchers studied 40 hospitals in the state of Texas.
They ranked each hospital based on their technology level.
They found patients in hospitals whose technologies ranked in the top third were 15 percent less likely to die while hospitalized.
More women are choosing to have both breasts removed when they're diagnosed with cancer, even if the disease has only been detected in one breast.
Researchers studied over 500 women who had both breasts removed between 2000 and 2007.
They found five percent had cancer in the other breast, and 15 percent had abnormal cells.
Experts say there has been no proven survival benefit among women who had a double mastectomy, that only had cancer in one breast.
