It's a disease that has stricken hundreds of Americans, scaring them away from some of their favorite products.  Salmonella cases have increased in the U.S. and Canada, which has local shoppers frightened.

You have probably heard it can be found in peanut butter. It comes from just one supplier, actually--The Peanut Corporation of
America, a company that makes peanut butter and paste out of Georgia.  Its products are not sold directly to consumers, and companies who are supplied by the P.C.A. are pulling their products off the shelves.  Despite the recall of products, cases continue to pop up, frightening local consumers.

One local shopper said, "I'm not purchasing any peanut butter or peanut butter crackers or anything.  I work out on a rig, and that's one of our favorite snacks, so we're not having any right now...I'm sad."

Though some shoppers say they trust that grocers have removed the tainted products, many will play it safe until the scare has died.

Local grocers are still selling peanut butter products, but they say shoppers regularly inquire as to which products are safe to buy.
