Update: KTAB, KRBC Signals Back

Update: Thursday Morning
KTAB's digital signal has been restored.  Both KTAB and KRBC can now be seen both through analog and digital receivers.  In addition to restoring the signal, engineers are working to increase the signal power.

Update: Saturday Evening
KRBC's signal is now up and running for a large portion of the Big Country.  Viewers in Abilene and neighboring cities should be able to clearly see KRBC's digital and high definition signals through a converter box or normal antenna.  The new development means football fans should be able to watch the Super Bowl in high definition Sunday evening. 

Station management is hopeful KTAB's signal will be repaired next week.

Update: Friday Afternoon
The digital transmitter shared by KTAB and KRBC was damaged Wednesday night by a falling block of ice.  All of KTAB and KRBC's engineers are at the site working to repair the the digital broadcast antenna, which is located near the top of the KTAB analog broadcast tower near Potosi. 

They hope to have it back up for the Super Bowl.  In the mean time, crews are working to establish a low-powered high definition signal that the Abilene area can receive in time for Sunday.

Satellite and cable providers are broadcasting the analog signal right now, which is why almost everyone can still see the stations.  The analog transmitter is broadcasting just fine, and will continue to do so until Feb. 17 when the signal is turned off for good.

KTAB and KRBC TV management apologize for the inconvenience and want to assure loyal viewers the problem is being fixed.
