Updated: January 30, 2009
The family of a man fatally shot by Breckenridge police may file a lawsuit.

Attorneys for Mike Richardson's family filed paperwork that allows them to sue for wrongful death.

The city requires a letter stating intent within 60 days of an incident for a lawsuit to be filed at a later date.

Police shot and killed Richardson back in November.

Texas Rangers are investigating.
