Simple changes around your home can save you money, not to mention give you peace of mind when it comes to your impact on our environment. It's not only good for the environment but going green could also save you money. We introduce you to a family hoping to save big money by making some small changes.

"It's just beautiful. We can sit on our front porch and it is so peaceful out here." explained Laura Bloomquist to our crew. The Bloomquists love the natural beauty all around their home and what a home it is, big enough for nine kids. Now they're ready to make that environment work for them. They want to turn this three-thousand square foot energy hog into something a little more earth friendly. But they're in an area known for sweltering summers and brutal winters.  Scott Bloomquist told us "last winter was pretty harsh. I mean we had a pretty rough winter last winter. With the rising cost of fuel and rising cost of utilities and everything, we all need to start saving our money and use it more wisely."

That's why we asked the green team to help the Bloomquists. It's a group that helps people make their homes more energy efficient. Five team members divided up the house and looked for energy bandits. After a two-hour energy audit the team was ready to take action. They started by caulking and sealing. Then they put foam behind electrical outlets. The changes cost less than eight hundred dollars. The Bloomquist's hope the changes will begin to pay off next month.

In our next segment we will see how much the changes have made to the utility bills.
